Vegas Style comes to Atlantic City
If Harrah’s gets its way, you won’t have to fly to Las Vegas to play blackjack by the swimming pool. Harrah’s plans to add six blackjack tables to its upscale pool area, the local paper reported today. For those who haven’t been there, it’s an indoor tropical oasis that is a pool by day and a nightclub after dark. They might even add swim-up blackjack and craps in the pool.
Pool games have been popular in Las Vegas casinos, and Harrah’s Atlantic City hopes to attract more gamblers with them.
On the other side of the spectrum, you won’t have to go to Fremont Street for low-limit tables. Trump Plaza is introducing $3 craps games and 50-cent roulette to its casino. No word yet if there’s an added “fee” like there is with their $1 blackjack. I’ll check it out within a week or so and get back to you.
Trump Plaza’s general manager told the local paper the reason behind it is because times are tough and people are looking to stretch their gaming dollars.
But the property has been going downhill for a while, and I think this is a last-ditch effort to save it. I’m no major fan of the place, but if I can shoot dice for three bucks a throw, I’ll go every so often, even if the atmosphere leaves a little to be desired.
