I don’t believe the summer is almost over. I see the days getting shorter and kids getting ready to go back to school and it always leaves me a bit sad.

But a couple of Atlantic City casinos want to let the season end with a bang, so they’re offering promotions as an incentive to spend Labor Day in their places.

Bally’s has a deal going for Monday, September 6. Earn 250 Total Rewards credits between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., and you can pick up a $25 gift card at the Total Rewards center. Print out your slip at the kiosk and prepare to go shopping. Only problem is, they don’t tell you what the gift cards are for. But most places usually give you a choice of several, so hopefully there will be something you or a friend can use.

Caesars is advertizing another megaball or whatever contest for September 5 and 6. I just saw it on a billboard on the expressway, so I didn’t get the details. The way it worked last time was you earn a given number of points and then get a card with six numbers. Every hour, like a lottery, they pulled six numbers, and people won a prize based on how many numbers match what’s on their card. But there was an interesting catch. You could only win one prize per day, and had to claim it before the next drawing. So if you won, say, $25 in free slot play, you had to decide whether to take it or wait to see if you could win more. Of course, you might end up with nothing. It drew quite a crowd last time I played it. I lost about $150 winning my $25 prize. But it could be a fun way to spend one of the last days of summer. If I get more details, I’ll post them.
