Summer Traffic Coming to Atlantic City
It was warm and sunny this past weekend, which meant a crowd of visitors to Atlantic City. That’s a good thing, as the casinos are hurting. Even Resorts and the Hilton, the two most troubled casinos, were mobbed on Saturday.
Time to get used to the summer traffic again. Memorial Day is 28 days away.
I went into town for a quick work errand Friday evening, and the traffic was a complete nightmare. It was backed up everywhere in the center of town. After the traffic light in their direction turned red, many drivers decided they “deserved” to go anyway and blew the signals, sometimes sitting in the middle of intersections and blocking those who had the green light. And to top it off, some genius in the Atlantic City Public Works Department decided Friday night – with a couple big shows in town – was the perfect time to repave a couple blocks of Pacific Avenue right behind Bally’s. That made the tie-ups even worse.
I took a walk on the beach Saturday after losing a couple hundred in the Hilton. It was nice, and a few brave souls – or foolhardy teens – decided to take a dip in the ocean. Folks, the water temps in Atlantic City are in the low 50s. Wait at least another month before you try to go swimming, unless you have a wetsuit.
In the meantime, it would help to have some more police presence at busy intersections on weekends to avoid these traffic messes. People will be less likely to blow a red light if a cop is standing there watching.

Cory you lucky guy.I would love to be stuck in AC traffic right now.My wife is from Jersey but we live in NC.Been married 33 years. We go to AC every June for our anniversary and both bithdays.
This June is no exception…SHOWBOAT.Can not wait for the sounds of impatient drivers and pan handlers on the boardwalk.
