Restaurant Changes in Atlantic City
Foodies will have yet another reason to visit Atlantic City this summer.
For starters, the Hilton is doing a total overhaul of its food operations, the local paper reports. Most of the changes appear to be for the better. It all comes on line some time in June.
The Oaks steakhouse and Peregrine’s will soon be history. I must say, I do regret never having had the chance to try Peregrine’s, which was said to be just about the best restaurant in Atlantic City. Patsy’s Italian eatery will remain in place.
Chef Kerry Simon off Food Network fame will open Simon’s Prime in the space formerly occupied by The Oaks. He promises a contemporary, eclectic restaurant that will not be an ordinary steak house.
The spot overlooking the ocean that was once the Chairman’s Club will become Ono, an Asian-themed eatery offering both gourmet and casual options. The old Peregrine’s will be renovated to become the Chairman’s Club.
Horizons will be renamed The Coffee Shop, and spruce up its menu to be more interesting. Half of that space will be Nick’s Burger Bar, and if it’s anything like the old Oaks burger bar, I will be one happy eater.
The Tropicana opens a new seafood restaurant today, called Fin. It will feature outdoor seating for the nice summer weather. Chef Demetrios Haronis – born, bred and educated at the Jersey shore – will use locally grown produce, locally produced wine and New Jersey fishermen’s latest catches in his creations. I, for one, am looking forward to trying it.
Yummy!
