Play Blackjack in Atlantic City for a Good Cause
If you want to play blackjack in Atlantic City, it usually will cost you $10 a hand – if you’re lucky enough to find a table at that “low” limit.
Here’s a chance to play 10 hands for a suggested donation of $10, and support a good cause while you have fun at the table.
The Taj Mahal is holding a “pinkjack” tournament May 6, 7, and 8 in the Ego Lounge to benefit the Shirley Mae Breast Cancer Assistance Fund. Because it’s for charity, casino employees can enter, even if they hold a key license. Players must be 21 or older and have positive ID.
Hours are 4-10 p.m. on May 6 and 7 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 8. You head to the Ego Lounge, where a donation to the fund is requested, but not required, and play 10 hands of blackjack with funny-money chips. When it’s all over, the top scorers can win prizes like a laptop computer or a 40-inch TV.
If you’re into exercise, you can also join the 10th annual 5K run or walk, sponsored by the Shirley Mae fund and Gilda’s Club. Registration is from 7:30 to 9 a.m. May 8 in front of the Taj Mahal. There will be a 5K run, a health walk and a kids walk, followed by a parade of breast-cancer survivors. Log on to www.shirleymaefund.org. for more info.
