It’s October, so it’s time for a little beer and bratwurst at Atlantic City casinos.

Resorts is holding an Oktoberfest celebration October 15 and 16 in the ballroom. There will be free entertainment, including singers and dancers doing traditional German numbers. Beer, German foods and crafts will also be offered for sale. One lucky person in attendance will win a cruise in January, a good time to get out of the Northeast, if you ask me.

It starts up at noon both days and runs until 7 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.

Also at Resorts that same weekend is the 4th annual Downbeach Film Festival. Independent flicks, full-length and short, will be shown in the 13th-floor screening room on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. Tickets are $6 each, with discounts for buying in bulk.
