Harrah’s is holding its Poker Open Sept. 23 through 27.  If you’re interested, buy-ins start at $150 and you can get the details at www.harrahsresort.com. Click on “events.”

But here’s the good part, even if you’re not in the contest.  Poker star Annie Duke will be on the property Friday and Saturday to mingle with players and do promotional events.  There’s no schedule for her apperances listed on the website.

But last time she was here in May, Annie  hung around the tournament area, and went downstairs to the poker room to play with ordinary players. I was there, and met her. She’s nice and very approachable, and is happy to sign autographs and pose for pictures. She even played for a while at a low-limit table. So if you’re playing poker at Harrah’s at the right time, you won’t have to risk a lot of money for a chance to brag that you won a pot from Annie Duke.
