No, the Travel Channel show isn’t coming to AC – yet. But if you’re a fan, and I admit that show is one of my secret vices, you’ll want to be at Tony Baloney’s pizza parlor on Saturday. The place at the corner of Vermont and Oriental Avenues is hosting a day of activities, including an eating contest at 2 p.m. Professional eaters will compete to see who can be the first to devour one slice each of Tony Baloney’s 30 different varieties of pizza. Looking at some descriptions – a carnivore’s paradise with 10 layers of meat, for example – I can’t imagine how any human being can accomplish this. But I guess we’ll see.
If you’re not into the ultimate pig out, you might want to check out the scene anyway. It will be a street fair of sorts, with over 100 vendors selling their wares, and face-painting and other fun for the kiddies. StinkPing Juice will debut their organic lemonade, with proceeds of the sales going to Alex’s Lemonade Stand to fight childhood cancer.
Festivities get underway at noon. Sounds like something I want to check out.
