Harrah’s Atlantic City properties woo back customers
A lot of Atlantic City gamblers have left Harrah’s Entertainment properties after they reduced the full-pay video poker and cut way back on promotional offers for players. Now management apparently realizes the mistake and is trying to get the customers back.
Players have gotten mail offers that if they earn a given number of base Reward Credits (1 credit equals $5 played through a slot machine or $10 played through video poker) by March 31, they will get a coupon in the mail good for free slot play in April or May. Mine was to earn 560 Reward Credits by the end of March, and I’d get $50 in free play. For each 250 Reward Credits I earn above and beyond that, I get an extra $5 in free play.
The offers seem to be based on people’s average play before they left Showboat, Bally’s or whatever for greener pastures. So some players might have to earn 1,000 points to get $90 in free play, or other formulas. At least for me, it will be worth spending an evening at Showboat to earn this deal. It’s even better if you can combine it with a Reward Credit multiplier day.
On a different note, the posh Water Club at the Borgata is the latest to fall victim to hard times. The hotel will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at least through April, the Atlantic City Press reported today. So if you want to indulge, you’ll have to either “settle” for their regular rooms, which are quite nice, or visit on the weekends.
