Going Overboard at Atlantic City Buffets
A friend and I were having lunch at a casino buffet earlier this week, when we looked over to see a man two tables away put half a dozen brownies into his bag. We commented on it, and it turned into a conversation on how much is too much to sneak out.
Of course, the buffets’ official rule is you take out nothing unless it’s in your stomach. But manypeople don’t obey this.
My friend and I are not among the few that heed the casinos’ rules. We’ve been known to take out some packs of no-calorie sweetener, a couple of tea bags or a piece of fruit. But where do you draw the line?
I’ve seen women take a complete steak out of a buffet in their purses. Or stash two dozen cookies in a shopping bag. That may be too much. But is it wrong to take out a piece of fruit? A couple of cookies? A piece of prime rib for your dog or a chicken breast for your cat? A miniature pie for a late-night dessert? Or is anything fair game as far as taking from a casino is concerned?
I don’t have any answers here. I’m just asking the questions. But it was something that made me pause and think.

I like to take some cookies from the dessert area to have with my coffee the next morning.
I don’t see anyhting wrong with that, especially since I don’t eat all that much at the buffet!

Yes I take some food with me from the buffet. Your not at home, so, if your staying at the hotel, it is nice to have something in the room for the “midnight” snack before you retire for the evening. Besides, if your stomack isn’t grumbling you will continue to gamble more in the casino so the hotel makes more of a profit there.

If I was almost full and had the choice of stuffing myself with that one last apple or saving it for later, I think i would take it and save it and not make myself sick. But to take extra really isn’t right. Don’t they offer you enough already?

One night my husband and I watched in amazement at Borgata, as a husband continually loaded his plate with chicken breasts, steak etc and placed them into bags and put them into wife’s scooter. They must have had enough food for a week. We don’t eat dessert as we are full after eating our dinners there, and so I don’t think taking a cookie for later is bad, but what they did is terrible!!!
