“Come on down! You’re the next contestant on The Price is Right!”

One lucky Atlantic City gambler will hear those words this fall, after Resorts is holding a contestant audition for the TV game show. It’s a throwback to the old days when Merv Griffin owned the place, and held tryouts for “Jeopardy” as a way of bringing people to the casino. I tried out several times, but never made it. Darn!

If you want to be on “The Price is Right,” head to the second-floor ballroom at Resorts from 2 to 6 p.m. August 26. I’m not sure what you have to do to audition, but they’re promising two people from the Atlantic City event will be sent to Los Angeles to be in the studio audience for the show, and at least one of them will be chosen as a contestant.

Warning – sitting in the studio audience for something like this can be quite boring, especially if you’re not picked. I went to a “Let’s Make a Deal” taping with a friend on my last trip to Vegas. We were there about 5 hours, and neither one of us got picked to make a deal.

Speaking of deals, here’s another one you probably want to steer clear of. Trump Marina is joining Resorts in offering $2 blackjack games. There’s a catch, of course, in that you have to pony  up a quarter per hand to play. Since an average blackjack table deals 60 hands an hour, that means you’re paying $15 per hour for the privilege of sitting at a $2 table – and that’s not counting whatever you might lose.

With table games opening up in Pennsylvania and Delaware, I’d look for table limits in Atlantic City to head south as soon as the summer is over.
