If you didn’t get enough snow this past winter – and I saw enough to last the rest of my life, thank you – the Tropicana is having a Christmas in July celebration on July 23.  It lasts from 2 to 8 p.m.

   Santa will take a break from his summer siesta to make his way around The Quarter and the shopping area on the boardwalk, and his helpers will hand out candy canes. The indoor snow machine will set off every 15 minutes to send flakes falling in The Quarter, and the place will be all decked out for the holidays. Live entertainers will get visitors in the holiday spirit.

   If you want to get a head start on your December shopping, many stores in The Quarter and other areas of the property will have special sales. The restaurants will have some deals, too, so there’s a place to drop after you shop. If you prefer the heat, there’s also a 5K run to benefit the Salvation Army.

   If you’re in the casino, make sure you use your player’s card when you hit your favorite slot machine or table game. They’ll be handing out free play every hour to lucky gamers whose cards are activated at the time.
