Changes Afoot in Atlantic City
As most of you already know, Resorts has a new owner. Former Trump and Tropicana executive Dennis Gomes and a partner will take over the property on or about December 1.
Resorts has already sent layoff notices to all its employees, effective December 15. They are being invited to apply to get their jobs back, some of them at lower pay. There was an ad in Sunday’s Atlantic City Press inviting all who are interested to apply for jobs, but Gomes says current employees will be preferred over equally qualified outsiders.
As part of the changes, Gomes said Resorts will be remodeled to have a Roaring Twenties theme, fitting with the “Boardwalk Empire” show on HBO. Since the main hotel was built in the 1920s, it should at least fit the structure. They also plan to add more clubs and upscale restaurants. The latter, in my opinion, are sorely needed there.

On another note, I was at the Hilton with a couple friends last night, and noticed that a lot of the video poker in their “full pay” section has been downgraded. I noticed it by mistake when I was playing a machine, and saw only 30 credits rack up for a full house. Oops! The machines against the back wall are still full pay, but the ones in the middle of the area have lower pay schedules.
