The southern California swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is best known for hits including “Go Daddy-O” and “You and Me and the Bottle Makes Three Tonight.” Once a mere lounge act, the band quickly rose to larger-than-life levels, even being tapped to play during the Super Bowl XXXIII half-time show. Show time is at 9 p.m. and tickets are priced at $25.

Park for Free All October Long
Visit Trump Marina in October, and we’ll take care of the parking in our self-park garage. All Trump One Cardholders are entitled to free parking. Be sure to visit and enjoy all that we have to offer, from hot casino action to fabulous restaurants and shops.

   Here’s a warning to Atlantic City visitors. If you leave the Boardwalk area and take to the streets on foot, the police are on the lookout for jaywalkers. They’re giving out warnings this week, but next week, they’re moving up to actual tickets, which will cost you $54. That could buy you a real nice meal or show ticket.

   Most of the problems are around the Walk retail outlets, and that’s where the cops are concentrating their efforts. But they’ll be all over town. So be sure to cross only at intersections and wait until you have a green light.

   If you’ve ever driven in Atlantic City, you’ll realize that this measure is long overdue. The city’s pedestrians have a reputation for being among the most brazen in the country when it comes to crossing the street and walking right in front of oncoming cars. Every year, dozens of them don’t make it to the other side.

   So make sure you have a green light before you walk across the street, and use the crosswalks. If you don’t, you may end up with a ticket. Which, of course, is better than ending up in the hospital, or even the morgue.

   On a transportation note, the ACES trains have extended their “all afford” $29 fares through July 31. So it’s an economical alternative to driving into town from New York or Newark. Shuttles will take you to one of three sponsoring casinos, the Borgata, Caesars or Harrah’s.

   Just because it’s past Memorial Day doesn’t mean you can’t get good deals getting to Atlantic City and having fun once you’re here.

   First of all, it will be cheaper to get here on the ACES train from New York and Newark. The one-way fare from New York will be $29 on all trains from June 1 through July 5. It’s still a little pricier than the Greyhound bus, but it’s a lot more comfortable.

   And once you’re here, you’ll have to eat. A few area restaurants are offering incentives for you to pick their establishment over the competition.

   Starting June 1, The Palm in The Quarter at the Tropicana is offering a lobster dinner for two for $90. It comes with a 4-pound Nova Scotia lobster, choice of salad for each person and a shared side dish. It’s a nice and affordable way to celebrate a romantic occasion or a big score in the casinos. The promotion runs all summer long.

   If you’re willing to leave Atlantic City and head south to Cape May County, Ocean City and Cape May are holding restaurant weeks. They’re capitalizing on the success of the Atlantic City event in early March.

   Ocean City’s extravaganza starts today and runs for 11 days. There are 34 participating eateries, offering a three-course lunch for $10.09 and a dinner for $20.09. Kids can eat for $5.99. Ocean City is a dry town, so you can’t have wine or beer with your dinner, and you’re not allowed to bring your own, but the deals are good. Log on to www.eatinOCNJ.com for details.

   Cape May is a little fancier, and further from Atlantic City. More than 50 restaurants are in on the deal to offer three-course dinners for a maximum price of $35.09 per person. Casual eateries will offer $22.09 dinners. This starts Sunday and runs through June 7. Logon to www.cmrestaurantweek.com for details.

   Just in time for summer, there will be a new way for out-of-towners to get to Atlantic City.

   AirTran Airways recently inked a deal with Atlantic City International Airport to run two flights a day to and from Atlanta. Travelers can connect to Atlanta from more than 35 other cities where AirTran flies.

   To get people interested, AirTran is offering a special $69 one-way fare if you book by April 16. Service is scheduled to start June 11.

   Of course, people who live in the Atlantic City area can use AirTran for their travel instead of having to go to the Philadelphia airport.

   Another topic under discussion, but not finalized, is the idea of redirecting 10% of the flights that go into Philadelphia to the Atlantic City airport. That would relieve congestion in Philly, and bring more business into AC. That’s just in the talking stages for now.

   In other transportation news, the ACES train between New York and Atlantic City has lowered its one-way coach fare to $39 for a couple of specific trains. You have to leave AC at 10 a.m. on a Friday or leave New York at 11 p.m. to get the special deal. First-class fare is $25 extra.

New Jersey (Atlantic City) - Thomas Barlas, Press of Atlantic City - The train is finally at the station, just about ready to bring gamblers and their money to resort casinos growing increasingly anxious for more dollars.

Atlantic City Express Service, or ACES, will begin weekend express service between Penn Station in New York City and the Atlantic City Rail Terminal - with a stop at Newark Penn Station - on Feb. 6…ACES is a joint venture between Borgata, Caesars Atlantic City, Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, NJ Transit and the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, or CRDA.
