United States Poker Championship Returns To Taj Mahal

   If you’ve ever dreamed of sitting at the final table in a high-stakes poker tournament while the TV cameras watch every hand and every expression on your face, your chance is coming to Atlantic City later this month. The United States Poker Championship series opened this week at the Taj Mahal.

   Of course, there’s a catch. You have to pay $2,500 or $5,000 in entry fees, and you have to beat all but half a dozen other players to make the televised final table.

   The pot-limit Omaha tournament, with a $2,500 buy-in plus $125 entry fee starts November 14, with the final table being filmed November 23. The No-Limit Texas Hold’Em tournament, with a $5,000 buy-in and $250 entry fee starts November 20, with the final table played out on November 24. Don’t have that kind of money? ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – June 18, 2009 - Resorts Casino Hotel is adding a new game to its already action-packed casino. Get ready for Flop Poker, the latest in an exciting line of live Poker offerings at Resorts, set to launch Friday, June 26.

Easy to learn and fun to play, Flop Poker is a five-card game that pits players against a pay table. Players get paid for having a pair of jacks or better. Adding to the excitement is a bonus feature allowing for a second way to win: the highest-ranking poker hand on the table wins the entire table’s pot.

The game, which uses six cards and is played with a standard 52-card deck, provides nonstop action that card-lovers of all kinds will love. Plus, it’s fun for Poker enthusiasts and those new to the game. Like any Poker game, Flop Poker begins with an ante wager. Then players make a pot wager (the table minimum), after which they receive three cards. At this point the player can look at his or her card and decide whether or not to continue. Winner Michael Richard may have lost the pot of around $800.00, as his quad 7’s were beaten by William Stewart’s quad 10’s. However, in a game where luck plays as much a part as skill, he walked away with $122,487.00 as the Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot winner, taking home his large share of the record-setting $306,225.00 jackpot.

On Tuesday evening around 9PM in the Borgata Poker Room nine players were dealt a hand in a $2-$5 No Limit Hold’em game. William Stewart of Brigantine, NJ, was dealt 10c 10d, while Michael Richard was dealt 7c 7s. The flop came out with 10s 7h 2s and both players went all-in. The turn showed a 10h. The river was a 7d.

In addition to winning the hand, William Stewart also took home an additional $61,245.00. The remaining seven players at the table each took home $17,499.00.

About Bad Beat
The Bad Beat shall apply to the game of Texas Hold’Em only. “Bad Beat” means a high ranking poker hand that is beat by a higher ranking hand (e.g., Four Deuces losing to Four Nines). In order for a hand to be eligible to qualify for a Bad Beat, the pot must meet a minimum of $20. A minimum of four players must be seated and dealt in at the beginning of the hand in order to qualify for the Bad Beat. To qualify for the Bad Beat Jackpot, a player must have four Deuces or better beaten. If the winning or losing player has made a Four-of-a-Kind, that player must have a pocket pair to qualify (example: if a player has four Eights, he/she must have a pocket pair of Eights with two Eights on the board). Both the winning and losing hands must use both of their hole cards to create the highest possible hand.

Atlantic City, January 20, 2009 – With the crowning of Danish poker pro Peter Eastgate in November 2008, and a first place prize of over $9 million, the excitement surrounding elite poker events has never been more evident. In an effort to meet the demand the high-stakes action of the World Series of Poker, the richest sporting event on the planet, is coming to Caesars Atlantic City for the highly anticipated Circuit Event from March 4 through March 14, 2009.

The World Series of Poker Circuit schedule for Caesars will include 11 tournament events, with buy-ins ranging from $200 for a Turbo No-Limit event to just over $5,000 for the No-Limit Hold’em Finale. Last year’s circuit event championship purse at Caesars Atlantic City was over $1.5 million. To ensure that there is never a lack of action, there will also be single table satellites available 24 hours a day^*. With over 110 tables ready for poker action, this event should bring some of the very best in poker talent to center Boardwalk where table games action is king.

The winner of the final event will qualify for a $10,000 seat in the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event held at The Rio in Las Vegas, NV in addition to prize money awarded for the Circuit victory. Winners of all events will receive a World Series of Poker ring, or in the case of the WSOP Ladies Only No-Limit Hold’em Final a beautiful pendant commemorating the championship.
