Initiative Will Bring Top Films From New York’s Critically-Acclaimed Tribeca Film Festival To Exciting Beach Hot Spot For A New Jersey Theatrical Debut

New York (June 22, 2010) – Caesars Atlantic City and the famed Tribeca Film Festival are bringing cinema to the sand with the debut of the Tribeca Cinema Series @ Caesars Atlantic City from July 8 through July 11. Guests at the New Jersey Shore destination will get a sneak-peek at some of the year’s most anticipated films that have been presented at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Each of the screenings is free to the public.

The Tribeca Cinema Series will take outdoor movies to a whole new level for an unprecedented event on the shore. With a screen that pans 33 feet long and 20 feet tall, Caesars is raising the bar for Atlantic City events this summer. Guests can enjoy top indie films from Tribeca as the sun sets on the beautiful beaches of Atlantic City for an evening of classic fun.

The films slated for the event include “The Infidel” (UK), directed by Josh Appignanesi and written by David Baddiel; “The Trotsky” (Canada), directed and written by Jacob Tierney and starring Jay Baruchel; “My Last Five Girlfriends” (UK), directed and written by Julian Kemp; and “TiMER” (USA), directed and written by Jac Schaeffer. All screenings will begin at sundown and will be held on the Caesars property beach at Arkansas Ave.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer such a high-caliber slate of films for Atlantic City guests and residents, who will be able to enjoy these movies on the beautiful beaches at center Boardwalk,” said Jennifer Weissman, Regional VP of Marketing for Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. “Caesars Atlantic City is known for bringing unique entertainment to the shore and the Tribeca Film Festival is the perfect partner to make this the most sought-after destination.”

Throughout the duration of the Tribeca Cinema Series, Caesars will be offering a $35 prix fixe menu at its restaurants Mia, Nero’s Grill and Primavera to guests, who can also enjoy from the variety of fine dining options at The Pier Shops. The newly-launched Sammy Hagar’s Beach Bar is another nearby treat where film-goers can grab a drink and enjoy a night on the ocean. Those looking for weekend-long entertainment can take advantage of Caesars luxurious accommodations, and spend a few days enjoying the full range of entertainment and nightlife options the resort has to offer, from the cutting edge Dusk nightclub to the total serenity offered by Qua Baths & Spa.

“The Tribeca Cinema Series at Caesars is a great way to showcase a wide range of independent films to a new audience in an enchanting venue,” said Nancy Schafer of the Tribeca Film Festival. “We are eager to continue working with Caesars Atlantic City to bring quality independent films to this beachside resort,”

The following outlines the Tribeca Cinema Series slate:
DATE:             Thursday, July 8 (Opening) @ Caesars Beach
FEATURE:        “The Trotsky” directed by Jacob Tierney (Jay Baruchel, Geneviève Bujold, Anne-Marie Cadieux, Colm Feore, Emily Hampshire, Michael Murphy, Saul Rubinek)
DETAILS:        Like most high schoolers, Leon Bronstein (Jay Baruchel, Tropic Thunder) is having an identity crisis. What differentiates Leon, however, is that he believes he is the reincarnation of Soviet thinker Leon Trotksy and predestined to follow the same path as his namesake. Tackling issues from students’ rights to semi-formal dances, this “revolutionary” comedy will have you united in laughter. 113 minutes.

DATE:                           Friday, July 9 @ Caesars Beach
FEATURE:        “TiMER” directed by Jac Schaeffer (Emma Caulfield, Michelle Borth, John Patrick Amedori, Desmond Harrington, JoBeth Williams, Kali Rocha)
DETAILS:        Narrative. Finding true love is easier than ever thanks to a bio-technological implant called the TiMER, which counts down to the exact time people meet their soul mates. Love-starved Oona (Emma Caulfield, TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is pushing 30, but her TiMER hasn’t even started counting down yet. What’s worse, she’s falling for a guy (John Patrick Amedori, Gossip Girl) who is set to meet his true love in four months. Newcomer Jac Schaeffer crafts a smart romantic comedy that leaves behind the burning question… would you want to know? 99 minutes.

DATE:                           Saturday, July 10 @ Caesars Beach
FEATURE:        “The Infidel” directed by Josh Appignanesi (Omid Djalili, Richard Schiff, Archie Panjabi, Igal Naor, Amit Shah)
DETAILS:        Mahmud Nasir (comedian Omid Djalili) may not be the most observant Muslim, but deep down he is a true believer. His life is turned upside down when he learns he was adopted—but most scandalous is that his birth mother was Jewish! And his given name was Solly Shimshillewitz! As Mahmud tumbles into a full-scale identity crisis, a true comedy of religious errors unfolds. 105 minutes.

DATE:                           Sunday, July 11 @ Caesars Beach
FEATURE:        “My Last Five Girlfriends” directed by Julian Kemp (Brendan Patricks, Naomie Harris, Jane March, Cécile Cassel, Kelly Adams, Edith Bukovics)
DETAILS:        Based on the international bestseller On Love by Alain de Botton, this delightful romantic comedy explores with delicious wit and whimsy just how modern urban relationships go wrong. Surveying the wreckage of his last five relationships, thirty-something Duncan (Brendan Patricks) concludes that love is a battleground where only the fittest survive. 85 minutes.
