ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (December 21, 2011) – Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa announced the details of a $1 million renovation of its poker room, including the debut of its exclusive high-limit poker lounge – The Boardroom.

“Since opening in 2006, we have the great distinction of being the busiest, largest and most diverse poker room on the East Coast,” said Stan Strickland, Director of Poker Operations for Borgata. This renovation reinforces Borgata’s commitment to our poker program and the players who comprise it.”

The remodel, which began earlier this year, spotlights Borgata’s dedication to staying fresh, as evident in the addition of 23 new flat-screen televisions along with brand new contemporary carpeting throughout the entire 21,500 square foot poker room.

Borgata’s high-stakes poker players will be offered an amazing experience with the opening of its new high-limit, two-table lounge – The Boardroom. Offering an extensive variety of games at a minimum buy-in of $10,000; The Boardroom combines dark woods with plush seating, 45 personalized poker lockers, and four 60-inch LED flat-screen TVs, all of which evoke a feeling of prestige in an exclusive surrounding for players to exercise their skills.

The newly renovated room opens just in time for the seventh annual Borgata Winter Poker Open tournament series, beginning January 18 and ending with the Winter Poker Open Championship, January 29 – February 3. The big event will feature a guaranteed $2 Million prize pool with a buy-in of $3,500.

Last year’s Borgata Winter Poker Open series attracted over 13,000 participants and paid out over $7 million in prize money.  New Jersey resident Vadim Shlez was crowned champion, joining Jeffrey Madsen (2010), Steven Weinstein (2009), Gavin Griffin (2008), John Hennigan (2007) and Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi (2006) on the distinguished list of Borgata Winter Open Champions.
