Big Blackjack Winner Comes to Atlantic City
Don Johnson of Bensalem, Pa., the man who beat the Tropicana’s blackjack tables for $5.5 million earlier this year – and the Borgata for another couple of million – will return to the Trop this weekend. Johnson will be on hand from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday to greet and chat with players and other guests.
People, new members only, who sign up for a Tropicana player’s card get a chance to play in the $100,000 winner-take-all blackjack tournament at the Trop. These players and invited guests can play in the qualifying round starting at 5 p.m. Friday. The top seven qualifiers go into the Saturday-night finals along with 42 other invited guests, where the winner gets the 100 grand. Johnson will preside over the activities.
No word if Johnson is playing during this stay, or what kind of incentives he’ll get risk his winnings at the tables.
Also at the Trop, the Aug. 29 Taste of the Quarter, which Hurricane Irene so inconsiderately washed out, has been rescheduled for September 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are still available, $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
