The ACH, formerly known as the Hilton, plans to transform itself into a locals Atlantic City casino, the local paper reported today. Sounds like a good idea, if it takes. In Vegas, those casinos have smaller hotels, better odds on the games and lower limits. The Hilton tried a full-pay video-poker section last year, but with little success.

On top of that, the Press of Atlantic City Web site had an item today that the ACH is laying off 150 employees. Not too good, though with the slowest season of the year approaching, it might be temporary.

Also in the Press was an item that Hard Rock CEO Jim Allen told the Casino Control Commission that they plan to break ground on their new “boutique” casino in July, with grand opening set for April 2014. That’s some good news.
