$542,987.23 Bad Beat Jackpot at Tropicana
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (October 14, 2011) – On Thursday, October 13, 2011 ten Tropicana Poker Club players split the casino’s $542,987.23 Bad Beat Poker Jackpot. This latest win brings the total amount awarded to over $5 million since the introduction of the Bad Beat Jackpot at the Tropicana on July 1, 2008.
“The poker room erupted with excitement at about 4:05 p.m. on Thursday, when a player with four nines was upstaged by another player who revealed a straight flush,” said Bruce Perlman, Poker Room Manager.
For the ten players gathered around the table, it was immediately clear that the Bad Beat Jackpot was theirs to the tune of $542,987.23. The winning hand won $108,500. The Bad Beat hand was won by Alan H. Silvani from Toms River, NJ won over $217,000.00. The remaining eight players won $27,100. The game was hit on a 2-4-6 limit game. Four nines got beat by a straight flush. The current Bad Beat Jackpot at Tropicana is now approaching $250,000.
A “bad beat” occurs when a player with a strong poker hand that looks like a favorite to win loses to a player who ends up getting lucky and catching an even better hand. The Tropicana’s Bad Beat Jackpot is a player-funded progressive jackpot that rewards the victim of a bad beat, so even a losing hand is a winner.
“Through this rivalry, we saw a lot of familiar players come back to the Tropicana, as well as a lot of new players,” said Bruce Pearlman, Poker Room Manager. “With all the changes and promotions in the poker room, we are confident that the patronage will continue to grow.”
